index » pass plus

is a training scheme for new drivers. Its aim is to improve your driving skills and make you a safer driver. It can also lead to insurance discounts. The scheme has been designed by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA), with the help of the motor insurance and driving instruction industries, to develop your skills and knowledge in areas where you may have limited experience.

As an indicator of its effectiveness, a recent survey of L test candidates carried out by ORC International for DSA, showed that of those who had taken Pass Plus:

as a result of taking the course.

Pass plus is made up of six modules over a minimum of 6 hours of tuition which include:

  • Driving in Town
  • Driving in all Weathers
  • Driving on Rural Roads
  • Driving at Night
  • Driving on Dual Carriageways
  • Driving on Motorways

You will not have a test at the end of the course but you will be continually assessed. You must successfully complete all the modules in the course to achieve or exceed the standards. When completed a driving standards certificate is sent to you. Discount on your insurance can often be the equivalent to one years no claims bonus when you insure your car.
